William Blake 1757-1827 by Inés Pineda Ruiz 1º ESO, I.E. V. Cañada Blanch London 2009-2010
Biography William Blake was born on 28th November 1757, in London, and died on 12th August 1827, he was a poet, painter and print maker. He was born to James and Catherine Wright ArmitageBlake. He was the third of seven children, two of which died during childhood. Blake and his siblings where home schooled.
His life as a poet Although he was not largely known he has written many famous poems like The Tyger and The School Boy. A lot of people thought he was crazy because he claimed he saw angels and said we were surrounded by them.
His art This shows angels going up and down stairs. This represents Blake’s belief that angels lived amongst us.
This is Ancient of days. Although Blake did not believe in God or have a proper religion, most of his paintings were angelic, had religious meanings or depicted scenes from the bible, such as this one.
This is Newton. It is based on science and religion. It shows a man (Newton) using a compass to write on a scroll.
