The office manager asked for a report on thieves stealing employees' belongings in the office that month. An investigation found that 90% of employees left belongings unattended at their desks, there was no security camera system, doors were unlocked, and outsiders could access the office without permission. It was concluded that lack of security allowed easy access for thieves. Recommendations included reporting the security company for lack of guard background checks, providing lockers for employee belongings, using a key card entry system, and requiring identity checks for visitors.
2. Terms of Reference
Ms. Agatha Christie, the office manager has asked me
to write a report on thieves around the office that have
been stealing employees’ belongings during the this
month and submit the report to him on Friday, July10,
2012
3. Proceeding
I asked staff about where they usually store their
belongings. Then I contacted the security company to
check security guard’s profile. Finally, I questioned a
number of our staff for suggestions on improving office
security system.
4. Findings
1. 90% of our employees put their belongings on or
under their desk. They do not have proper places to
store their belongings.
2. There’s no CCTV in our office.
3. Office doors are always unlocked
4. Outside people can access the office without
permission.
4. Security company does not have the guard’s profile.
5. Conclusion
It is possible that the thieves get into the office easily
because we do not have enough security system to
scan the outsiders before give them permission to
come inside.
The security guard is not reliable.
The fact that there is no place to store belongings
increases tendency of thievery.
6. Recommendation
The company should report the security company to
check their staff’s background.
The company should provide the employees with
lockers where they can store there belonging properly.
Company should use the key card system so that
strangers cannot enter the office.
People who want to get inside need to go through
security system and leave their identity card.
