The "Fight or Flight" syndrome is a mental and physical reaction/decision to dealing with difficult circumstances. While choosing the "Flight" option typically makes sense when facing physical harm, most of us tend to choose it even when faced with mental, emotional and spiritual difficulties...which, quite frankly...is the more common experience. No one likes pain or dealing with unbearable circumstances, and yet, that is typically what God asks us to face in order for him to accomplish his work in us and through us. Read the story of Elijah in 1 Kings...it will probably resonate with you. And what about the "remnant" that was left behind after the Babylonian invasion? They sought a spiritual stamp of approval from Jeremiah to leave hardship behind. Again...understandable. But God's counsel is quite the opposite of our typical desires. In this message, we tackle the "Fight or Flight" syndrome from a spiritual perspective.
