Project for my Mastery course at Full Sail University. Describes my program courses and what I expect of them as well as where I want to go with my degree.
2. Looking Back
❖ I know this a refection of our Brainstorming assignment, but
this class as a whole could not have come at a better time in
my life. Going through the courses and analyzing what about
them that will help me attain mastery in my life’s task was a
great experience. The assignment helped to put my mastery
journey into perspective. Each program the school has to offer
is like a blueprint for making a “yellow brick road” for one’s
self. The resource centers, professors, books and assignments
are the bricks we use to build our individual roads to
mastery. The brainstorming exercise helped me to create an
idea in my mind of what bricks I will most need to pull from
each course to get me a step closer to mastery.
3. In the end
❖ In five years anyone could be where, who or what they want to
be. How much you want it determines whether the journey feels
easy or hard. I technically have 19 months left in my five
year plan. The next year will help me hone my communication
strategies and learn how best to engage any audience I come in
contact with. Over the course of this year I am building my
brand and developing the best style for me to master public
speaking and training with a focus on motivation and goal
accomplishment.
4. Mastery: Personal Development & Leadership
This course is designed to help us figure out what exactly we
are passionate about and how to be dedicated and disciplined to
the study of our chosen craft. The book Mastery, which is our
study guide is one of my favorites prior to the class. So far
the course has helped me better define my life’s task and the
best paths to take to gain the needed skills in my chosen craft.
the way:
• Stay engaged in the practice of my life’s task
• Be the consummate apprentice
• Seek opportunities to examine my theories

the psychology of keeping peoples attention is an awesome
thing. “Students will study visual design theories, including

7. Corporate Training and
Motivational Development
This may be one of the most valuable classes I’ll take during the
course of this degree program. I would call this the money class,
because it is about giving and taking constructive criticism in order
to maximize your own potential and profits. Corporate training and
motivational speaking requires that you’re able to recognize weak
spots in your presentation and build them into strengths.
the way:
• Create evaluation worksheets for my classes
• Implement ideas from critiques to improve my performance
• Study videos of people at the top of the game

8. Instructional Design Evaluation
This is what I call a tailoring class. I can use it to help me
fine tune my message to the audience I’m delivering it to. The
course catalog states “Along with traditional learning theories,
the multiple learning theory and emotional intelligence theory
will be examined and evaluated for design and implementation in
various learning environments.”
the way:
• Study emotional intelligence more in depth
• Use my internship/ teaching to test theories
• Create the same product for different demographics

intelligence-work/124087/144438-4.html
9. Digital Media and Learning
Applications
From the sound of the course description I will have the
opportunity to work with programs like Adobe Photoshop and
InDesign to create better presentations. These are programs
and areas that I want to heighten my skill level in.
the way:
• Gain certification through company product training
• Use Adobe Bridge and CC to move media between programs
• Create an app for my brand

10. Music and Audio for Instructional
Design
I couldn’t find this class for some reason, but it seems like
an interesting course being that I’m a musician and part time
producer. Knowing what the right music for an audience or
specific learning module is imperative.
the way:
• Study presentations by masters in my field
• Research royalty free music online
• Improve my production skill set

12. Game Strategies and Motivation
If I’m gauging this course correctly I will be able to craft
games and group activities that will lead to greater
participation. This will help keep the trainees learning
without realizing they are.
the way:
• Pull ideas from previous training I’ve done
• Implement my ideas on children first
• Incorporate personal training skills

13. Learning Management Systems and
Organizations
When setting up CBTs differentiating between what is the best
way to move from section to section can be difficult. This
course will help me identify when the right time to use the
different continuation features available.
the way:
• Experiment with the different techniques
• Create my own CBT training course
• Utilize my experience with online testing

14. Media Asset Creation
The relevance of this class seems to be about gathering materials
for training and where to find them. For me this is an important
class, because gathering the right assets is imperative to engage
my trainees and tailoring the media to the technical abilities of
the learner.
the way:
• Use my transcoding skills from my BS degree
• Make use of Citation Machine
• Use the web to find material/ Full Sail library database

17. Getting Started NOW
❖ Pursuing mastery in my field requires that I get involved in
the community at the grassroots level. I have reached out to
one of my fraternal brothers that runs a large community
center for children and adults in my area. He has agreed to
help me apply for grants to help me teach underprivileged
youth Cinematography and the art of story telling. I will be
able to practice my public speaking daily to adults and youth
while helping them get to their dreams. I will begin
certification courses in Adobe Premiere Pro and Illustrator to
increase my skill set. My music, which is my main leap into
mainstream minds is in the mastering phase and the first video
is being storyboarded as I type this. This will give me the
opportunity to connect with local speakers and trainers to
expand my PLN as well as my brand. Especially since I will be
donating 10% of the net profit from music sales to charities
that increase literacy.

serious training and application as well some great guidance.
To invest my time into what they know a mentor must have more
than one of the listed qualities.
• An awareness of the field and their place in it
• A successful brand/ business in the field
• Must be fearless or a heroes reaction to fear
• Have accomplished something significant/overcome obstacle
• Be respected in the field
• Be passionate about the craft
20. My Journey In Summary
I don’t know where the saying comes from, but I am in the
process of shooting for the stars. Over the coming year I am
building the skills and acquiring the tools to launch my career
to new heights. Along with the skills to create and deliver
great presentations that I am learning with Full Sail
University, the experience of being involved in my field and
developing my ideas outside of the class environment will
demonstrate my commitment to my life’s task. They say energy
never dies, but it is transformed. This is my metamorphosis, my
moment to rise from virtual obscurity to the heights of my field
like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the past.
