Practice Yoga for the Wellness of Your Heart
Yoga is an ancient form of physical and mental exercises that comprises of various poses,
known as asanas, breathing techniques and meditation. Most of the people begin
practicing yoga for the relaxation and health benefits it brings to the body. Various forms
of yoga strengthen muscles, improve body balance and flexibility, and relieve the
practitioner from stress.

Heart-Health Benefits of Yoga
A recent study performed by a leading American health institute says that people who
regularly practice yoga exercises have less blood compounds in their body, which may
result in inflammation in the heart. The study also reveals that yoga help patients
suffering from a common heart rhythm problem.

Yoga practice increase HRV (Heart Rate Variability) which is a sign of a healthy heart.
Recent studies show that the death rate of people from heart problems is increasing
exponentially. Perhaps, the credit goes to the bad food habits, over-stress at workplaces
and lack of time for self-relaxation.

In addition, there are many other conditions and diseases that may lead to heart problems
including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, tobacco, diabetes, physical
inactivity and smoking. A proper diet plan and regular practice of yoga can help heart
patients fight against this deadly disease.

The fact remains that not all heart diseases can be prevented by practicing yoga, but the
key is to live a life that supports good health of the heart. Yoga is truly a proven way of
discovering healthy body, mind and soul. Yoga practice controls the cholesterol level in
the heart and reduces the severity of diabetes.
Yoga enhances the blood circulation and respiration, which in turn improves the
metabolism of the body. Besides physical benefits, yoga brings mental benefits for the
heart patients. For example, it reduces the stress level, anxiety and makes them feel
relaxed. Yoga helps patients stay positive and confident during their tough period. Seems
like an all-in-one remedy for heart? Doesn’t it?

Use Caution before Starting Yoga Practicing

If you are a heart patient looking for a viable way of improving your heart health, yoga is
the answer. However, it is recommended that you consult a doctor before joining a yoga
class. The reason I advised to join a professional yoga studio lies in the fact that there are
many different types of yoga. And not every type can be suitable for everybody. For
example, if you are pregnant women, you can learn prenatal and postnatal yoga
(Rückbildungsgymnastik in German language). Similarly, the recommendation will vary
for elderly and kids as well.
Are you a beginner?

For beginners, Hatha Yoga is one of the simplest and most commonly practiced forms of
Yoga. It includes slow and gentle body movements with main focus on breathing. It
comprises of many different asanas, pranayama and chanting. To learn more about
different types of yoga and its health benefits, you can find a good yoga studio in your
city.

Yoga is far beyond a physical exercise. Reap benefits of yoga, as there is a yoga style for
everyone.
