Tips for Working With Outdoor Wedding Venues
Outdoor wedding venues are great places to have an amazing, yet affordable wedding, as outdoor weddings
require less work at decoration. Outdoor venues are often more affordable than many of the established
indoor venues. Plus, many people enjoy the living beauty that an outdoor setting provides. Things such as
shady trees, fragrant blossoms, or running water can all add an element of beauty to your wedding
celebration.
One of the first things to consider, when planning your outdoor wedding, is the size of the group you intend
to host. Plan enough space for everyone in the wedding party and then make sure that there will be enough
room for all of the guests at the chosen venue. Will you have room for all of the tables and chairs? Will there
be enough access to restroom facilities for your group? Some outdoor s will require that you rent your own
portable restrooms. If you intend to have dancing at the wedding, is there an outdoor area which will
accommodate this? You also want to make sure that there will be adequate parking.
You can never be completely sure that you won?t have inclement weather, so find out if there will be enough
indoor shelter for everyone invited or whether or not you can rent a tent. Tents will protect your guests from
weather like rain or wind, but might detract from the view, so look for a perfect balance. Think about the
probably temperatures as well; evening weddings will be cooler in the summer, while afternoons might be
best in the spring or autumn. If you want to add heat or air conditioning, make sure there is adequate
electricity or consider the option of renting a generator. If it will be hot, plenty of shade and drinks will be
required. Make sure that you have drinks other than alcohol there, such as water or fruit drinks, as alcohol is
dehydrating.
Everyone loves when hosts feed them. If you intend to do so, make sure there will be appropriate facilities
for the food you are planning on serving. If you are hiring a caterer, find out if there is a location for them to
set up at the . Plan appropriate foods for outdoor venues; hot chocolate in the summer and ice cream in the
winter don?t make much sense. Plan foods which will be easy to carry outside and which will provide a nice
contrast to the weather. Make sure that the food can survive the weather as well; buttercream icing on a
cake and ice cream treats will melt in heat. Also, if guests are going to be dressed in their best clothing,
messy foods, such as those that drip or stain, such as chocolate fondue or red wine may need to be avoided.
Making sure that everyone can hear is sometimes a problem, especially at outdoor s. Make sure everyone
who will be speaking, like the bride, groom, minister, and anyone giving toasts has a microphone or access
to one. Make sure that speakers have been placed strategically so that everyone can hear without becoming
too loud or jarring for anyone. Finding just the right balance outside can be problematic, but many s have
given this consideration already and have worked to compensate in the outdoor settings.
