October 2           Baby Boot Camp        ACS Family Advocacy offers this class where new or soon-to-be parents
9 am – 4 pm                               can learn baby basics. This free class is held at Army Community Service.

October 2           Family Night at       Spend the evening out with the kids at the Winner’s Circle. Each week
5 – 7 pm            The Commons           there is a special fun activity for the children to enjoy. The Pizza and Pasta
                                          Buffet is sure to meet anyone's appetite. $7 for adults and $4 for children 8
                                          and under. Each week a different themed entertainment is provided for
                                          family fun. The Family activity scheduled for this week features a time when

October 3           5K Fun Run            Community runs are open to active duty military assigned/attached to fort
7 am                                      Drum Family members, retirees, reservists and DoD civilians employed on

                                          pm on October 2 or on the day of the event held at Magrath Sports

October 3           Oktoberfest           The Commons is celebrating the autumn harvest with a dinner special in

October 4           Employment 101        Learn the basics of searching and applying for a job. Learn how to conduct a

October 5           In Her Shoes:     This simulation activity is used to increase awareness of the struggles that
2 – 4 pm            Living With       women with abusive partners face. The activity illustrates how domestic
                    Domestic          violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs
                    Violence          a battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we
                                      all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. Space is limited

October 5 – 8       NY State Park     Parks and Recreation is offering 50% off the rental fee on their RVs for the
Weekend             Camping Special   Columbus Day weekend when patrons reserve a campsite at one of the
                                      New York State Parks Campgrounds. While reserving your RV at Parks and
                                      Recreation, pick up a New York State Parks Camping Gift pack which
                                      includes a $50 gift card good towards your campsite rental fee.

October 5           Fallen Warrior    The Fort Drum Community is invited to attend the ground breaking
10 am               Monument          ceremony for the Fallen Warriors Monument at Memorial Park. The
                    Ceremony          construction of The Fallen Warriors Monument was paid for with 2010
                                      Silver Award proceeds, made possible by the Garrison Workforce.

Save The Date: Friday, October 26, 2012. Beware… and come if you dare to The Haunted
Hayride at Remington Park. Creepy things are there to scare as you ride through Remington
Park on one of the tractor drawn trolleys. Walk through the haunted pavilion and cemetery
then scurry back across the spooky bridge to check out the creepy animal exhibit presented by
the zoo at Thompson Park. A little monster’s fun zone is available for kids 12 and under with
tamer activities for younger children. Additional treats include group photos, snacks and
drinks, and a bonfire for marshmallow roasting. Patrons can catch the shuttle to Remington
Park from Magrath Sports Complex. This event is free to all DoD ID card holders. Parental
discretion is advised for some of the evening’s offerings and children 12 and under must be
accompanied by an adult.

The activity illustrates how domestic Domestic violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs Violence a battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. Beware… and come if you dare to The Haunted Hayride at Remington Park. Creepy things are there to scare as you ride through Remington Park on one of the tractor drawn trolleys. Walk through the haunted pavilion and cemetery then scurry back across the spooky bridge to check out the creepy animal exhibit presented by the zoo at Thompson Park. A little monster’s fun zone is available for kids 12 and under with tamer activities for younger children. Additional treats include group photos, snacks and drinks, and a bonfire for marshmallow roasting. Patrons can catch the shuttle to Remington Park from Magrath Sports Complex. This event is free to all DoD ID card holders. Parental discretion is advised for some of the evening’s offerings and children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
