Description

The Installations and Controls Supply Chain Unit (SCU) defines the design
requirements for most of the components necessary to control the engine's rotating core
and interface with the airframe. The design requirements are submitted to suppliers
who provide the design and manufacturing functions to create a product.
The Engineering Commodity Leader (ECL) is the global, strategic, technical expert
ultimately responsible for the design and test requirements of all actuation and hydro
mechanical components in the Installations and Controls Strategic Business Unit for
turbine engines. This technical leadership role is responsible for defining new
technology roadmaps and product family concepts which will create future product lines
of actuation and hydro mechanical components. The ECL is responsible for design and
test requirements that deliver the highest levels of quality, performance, safety, and
reliability while meeting business cost and delivery targets.
The ECL must be a strong leader and communicator that can influence and negotiate
with global suppliers and customers. The candidate must be able to deal with complex
issues and ambiguous situations and drive to a concurred decision.
The company has a broad customer base comprising 600 airlines, 4,000 corporate and
utility aircraft and helicopter operators, 160 armed forces, more than 2,000 marine
customers including 70 navies, and energy customers in 120 countries. They are a
technology leader, employing 38,000 people in offices, manufacturing and service
facilities in 50 countries.
Qualifications and experience
Basic:
• This position requires a mastery level of knowledge in actuation and hydro
mechanical type components with demonstrated associated work experience
depth
• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with 9+ years of
experience in the actuation and hydro mechanical engineering field, or an MS
degree with 7+ years of experience
2. • Must have a strong working knowledge of new product development, change
management, and risk management processes
• Knowledge of DO-160 and Mil-Std-810
• Must be able to work globally and travel up to 25% of their work time
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Must be a US citizen
Preferred:
• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with 15+ years
of experience in the field
• Experience in heat exchangers/heat management is of extra value
• Knowledge in robust design fundamentals with Quality Functional Deployment
(QFD) skills
• Candidate should have experience with performing Root Cause Analysis and
problems solving techniques
