Energy definition

Energy:It is the capacity of an object or body to work
Types of energy

Mechanical energy ·Kinetic energy:The energy of movement.
·Potential energy: The energy when the
objects are moved from their stable
                              positionn.
Elecytical energy ·The energy of an electric current
Electromagnetic energy ·Is transported by electromagnetic waves
Sound energy ·Is asociated wiith sound waves
Chemical energy ·It is acumulated in subtances
Nuclear energy ·It is stored in the nuclei atoms
Thermal or calorific energy ·This energy is from the vibration of
                              pareticles in matter
Luminous energy ·It iis generated by the sun or artificial lights
Energy sources

Energy sources are natural resourcs that provide different form of
energy. There are two types of energy sources: Non-renewable
and renewable.
Non renewable

· Nuclear energy:It is produced from nuclear reactions of
certain atoms.

·Coal:It is formed from the remains of plant that were buried and
transformed in te absence of oxygen.there are two types of
extraction: open-cast mine and underground mines.

    · Petroleum: It is formed from the buried remains of plant
and animals that have descomposed .

    ·Natural gas:is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas
mixture consisting primarily of methane.Natural gas is
found in deep underground natural rock formations.
Petroleum Coal

Nuclear energy Natural gas
RENEWABLE ENERGY
·Hydraulic energy: Is power derived from the energy of falling
water.

·Solar energy: Radiant light and heat from the sun, has been
harnessed by humans since ancient times.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
·Marine energy: Marine energy or marine power refers to the
energy carried by ocean waves, tides, salinity, and ocean
temperature differences.

·Geohermal energy: Geothermal energy is thermal energy generated and stored
in the Earth.Thermal energy is the energy that determines the temperature of
matter.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
·Biomass: Biomass, as a renewable energy source, is
biological material from living, or recently living organisms.

·Biofuel:Biofuel is a type of fuel whose energy is derived from biological
 carbon fixation.
Powerstations
Powerstation:Is an industrial facility for the generation of
electric power.There are four types:
Nuclear power stations:work on the chemical process of
fission. Nuclear reactors are used to generate electricity.

Thermal powerstation: These power plants generate
electrical energy from thermal energy.
Powerstations
Hydro powerstations:These powerstation use the kinetic energy
of flowing water to produce electrical energy. Hydro power plants
store water in large reservoirs. Water in these reservoirs flow
down the dam and rotate a turbine.

Solar powerstaion:Powerstation in which the rays of the Sun are
concentrated into a single beam using lenses and mirrors.
Environmental impacts
Environmental degradation can occur naturally, or through human processes.
The largest areas of concern at present are the loss of rain forests, air pollution
and smog, ozone depletion, and the destruction of the marine environment.

CFCs, or chlorofluorocarbons, are the primary cause of ozone depletion. When
industrial processes release these chemicals, they rise into the stratosphere
 and degrade the ozone.

Acid rain, smog and poor air quality have been the result of air pollution. Both
industrial operations and automobiles have released gigantic amounts of
emissions that have intensified these problems.

Deforestation and the logging industry have destroyed many tropical rain
forests around the world. This has destroyed many natural habitats, and the
plants and animals native to the areas.

All air trapped during this procedure is then directed through an electric cooling compressor situated behind the propellers. This contraption extracts humidity from the air, creating moisture which is condensed and collected. The water gathered at this stage is then transferred down a series of stainless steel pipes, which have been specially modified to aid the water production process, to a storage tank in the base of the turbine. Once there, the water is filtered and purified before it is ready for use and consumption. One turbine can produce up to 1,000 liters of water every day, Alumnos:Alfonso García Durán y Belén Díaz García 2ºB
