2. Introduction:
Originally started in ancient Greece,
were recovered by Baron de
Coubertin in the late nineteenth century. The
first games of the modern era were held in
Athens in 1896. Today we celebrate the
Summer Olympics every four years in the years.
And the Winter Olympics are every four years
4. The Olympic Games of
antiquity, called with the name
Olympic tobe held in the
city of Olympia, were religious
festivals, cultural and sporting events held in
ancient Greece (776 BC - 392 AD). in
honor of the
gods over. Athletes participating in
them, they had to
becitizens and men, and trained for years to
gyms.
5. There are many legends about the
origins of the ancient Olympic
Games. One associates the
first Games with the concept of ancient
Greece (ekecheiria) or Olympic Truce. T
he start date of the same calendar as a
reference Hellenic
and that was considered in
776 BC, although the views of
some scholars place it among the
year 884 BC and 704 BC.
6. Since then the Games quickly took greater significance in
ancient Greece, reaching their maximum splendor in
the fifth and sixth centuries BC. The Olympics had
a fundamentally religious
importance, contests alternating with sacrifices and cerem
onies in honor of Zeus (the
statue that stood majestically in Olympia) and
pelops, divine hero and mythical king of Olympia famous
for its legendary chariot race and honor which were
held. The number of events increased to twenty, and the
celebrations lasted for several days. The first
competitions were based on race walking, and were
later introduced to the fight, the pentathlon, test various
events including Javelin, discus throw and long
jump; the Pancraci, racing
cars, and various art competitions such as
music, poetry and dance.
7. In Olympia we came
to celebrate 293 Olympic
Games, until the Emperor
Theodosius I abolished them in 393 AD,
considering thema pagan religious
ceremony.
9. Red: American
Green: Oceania (the virgin continent and
natural)
Black: Africa (by the skin color
Yellow: Àsia of many ethnicities
Blue: Europe (traditional symbol, related
to the Mediterranean, is also the
background of the flag)
