  3. Having a Facebook profile where you can see your friends’ pictures, updates, check in to a restaurant or a show is great – but that’s NOT marketing. Learn to use your personal PAGE (as opposed to a “Profile”) as a marketing tool…..

  5. · Pages are generally better for a long-term relationships with your fans, readers or customers; · Groups are generally better for hosting a (quick) active discussion and attracting quick attention. ALSO – PROFILE is where you post what you ate last week and what your dog did in the park. Your PAGE is where you create your SHOWBIZ identity.
  6. Should you pursue Twitter as a means of social media networking
  7. Twitter is a great device when you’re posting frequently. Generally, FB posts should be limited to 3-4 a week. Tweets can happen as often as you like, b/c they operate differently. Twitter feed. People may miss your post. Tweets are maximum of 140 characters including spaces – best if tweets are 120 or less so people can add to them when retweeting.
  8. Example of a tweet I sent this morning. @mentions and #hashtags URL shortners
  9. Using hashtags increases your chance of being found. After sending tweet with hashtag I received three new followers
  10. How to grow – start following other Tweeters that are relevant or you find interesting
  11. Blue Whale – Bronx Zoo snake – people will find you if you’re witty and creative. Find and follow organizations / people you want in your network. Theaters, Casting people, agents, producers… (Jordan Roth, etc.)
  12. You’re an actor – unless all you do are voiceovers, you’re in a visual medium which is getting more and more visual every day. (Hello – opera singers are now required to act and look good….) But – which to choose?
  13. YouTube is BETTER for researching music, performances, dance routines – whatever you need –even better than iTunes
  14. People in the ‘know’ prefer Vimeo – as one blogger wrote
  15. Vimeo will allow you to post private videos you can then share with select casting people, etc. YouTube will help you be ‘discovered.’ Including websites in video descriptions helps get people to your site and with SEO Annotate and allow you to categorize and include text and links within each video
  16. So – I know so many people on LinkedIn who don’t know how to use it effectively: the key is using LinkedIn Groups
  17. Get vanity URL and ADD to your email signature Use Summary and HEADLINE to be CREATIVE Use keywords that people will likely be using in their searches Recommend: that even means casting people, directors, etc. (NOTE: no NEGATIVE feedback!) Link to your profile (I recommend you do NOT link to Twitter – but that’s me)
  18. QR codes can be generated easily and for free on a number of websites. Why not include them on your resume (that link to your website, iActor page, LinkedIn page – wherever you are best represented Flickr – like YouTube or Vimeo can be linked to your FB page MailChimp – allows you to maintain your contact lists and send out snazzy newsletters, (like Constant Contact) for FREE Mobile Roadie – for those of you with more resources – financially and technologically. Helps you created an iphone app.
  19. Tags are used so that others can easily find your posts. All the above mentioned offer customized URLs. They’re easier to remember. Include photo and/or logo on all sites. Use THE SAME image – easier to brand (and yes, you ARE a brand) and remember Social media is about interacting, engaging and having a conversation
