Welcome to Week 8 of History 1302. I'm Professor Michael Dobe, your instructor for this course. This week's History Blog is on the topic of "C-SPAN Life Portraits of Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt" The Week 8 Blog is located below. You can also get there using the link provided in the Week 8 Folder located in the Blackboard Course Content Area. This week we will have a look at two Presidential Life Portraits from C-SPAN. You will be watching the first 10 minutes of the C-SPAN Call-in Programs on the lives of Presidents Herbert Hoover and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. While each program goes on to discuss a wide range of topics from the lives and work of these two presidents, I would like you to concentrate on the biographical introductions to these two profile programs. While you are welcome to continue watching after the initial biographic profiles are over you are only required two watch the two introductions. Links to both profile programs are available in the Google presentation containing the blog instructions for Week 8. After viewing the short intros to these two programs, please summarize for the class in you blog posting what you believe the significance of the early lives of Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt shaped the leadership styles they were to display as presidents. In the cases of Hoover and FDR was "the child the father of the man"?
