2. What is Drama
➔The term comes from a Greek word meaning '
action', which is derived from 'to do'.
➔ Drama is performed by actors, on a stage,
before an audience in theater.
➔Drama is combination of music,dance etc.
4. Religious Period
● Drama first came out from
religioun.
● Specially in Europe and
Greece.
● This kind of Drama based
on Saint's life, and Old
Testament.
● Represented in the
Churches and especially
at Christmas time.
5. Miracle and Mystery Plays
●
10th
to the 16th
century.
● Early Miracle plays divided in to two
parts :- (1) The Christmas play
(2) The Easter play
● In France the name Miracle play was
representing of lives of the Saints.
● Mystery plays represtend the life of
Christ from Old Testament.
6. Moral period
● Morality plays shows the
moral value.
● Releted with virtues and
vices.
● For ex:- “ Everyman”
“ Pride of Life”
“ Hyckescorner”
“ Castell of
Perseverance”
7. The Artistic period

It is the final stage of the Drama.
●
Main purpose is not to present moral but
to represent human life as it is.
