The first grade teacher is informing families that students will be writing and illustrating their own books in the style of the "How Do Dinosaurs..." book series. Each student will create a new book with a story and cover design. The school is participating in a Scholastic Books cover art contest where the grand prize is a visit from illustrator Mark Teague. Parents must provide permission by Friday for their child to participate by submitting their cover art to the contest.

lately. We really love the ways that the stories are written
and love the illustrations to o!
This week as part of our library lessons and writing les-
sons we will be writing bo oks! O ur first grade students are
going to write a bo ok modeled after Jane Yolen and Mark
Teague’s How Do Dinosaurs . . . Series. Each student will create
their own new bo ok in the series, write the story and desig n a
new bo ok cover.
Scholastic B o oks is sponsoring a Create Your Own Cover
Contest and the grand prize is a visit from Mark Teague!
Entries will be sent from the scho ol and use the
scho ol address and phone number, but will
have your child’s name on it.
