2. The Agreement It is the responsibility of each bargaining unit member to document both the quantity and quality of her/his activities and achievements. With respect to all recommendations and decisions regarding reappointment, tenure, and promotion, the bargaining unit member has final responsibility for bringing forth all evidence that the bargaining unit member wishes to be advanced in conjunction with recommendations and decisions. Supporting documentation for reappointment, tenure, or promotion shall include a narrative statement for each evaluation criterion, explaining how and to what extent each of the activities claimed has met the standards set forth in the departmental procedures, criteria, standards, and bylaws and the terms of this Agreement.
3. Critical! Write your narrative so that a non-teacher education personunderstands your accomplishments! Spell out your organizations and their importancefor presentations. IRA? NCTM? etc. While NOT required, deans and the provost like acceptance rates for conference presentations and especially publications!
4. Critical! Generally, deans and the provost do NOT like means of means for SOS reports In your narrative, put class SOS scores in tables and so on…
5. Critical! If you supply means of means at the end of each question, make sure you weight your scores In your teaching narrative, do NOT blame your students for lower scores In your service narrative, discuss the importance of your service activities, not just that you accumulated points
6. Critical! Under Service, you must either advise graduate students or work with in-service teachers in the field For work with in-service teachers, discuss the quantity and quality of your work with the teachers – be specific
7. Your Materials You need to submit a cover page, a 1-page summary, the complete narrative, your vita, and appropriate support materials. Write your narrative to directly address the standards for the action requested
8. Important Points! See Dean Koch’s letter from the beginning of the year BE CAREFUL with your SOS packets!!!
9. Remember… ALL decisions are independent This faculty wants ALL our personnel recommendations going forward with as strong a case as possible! There are plenty of colleagues willing to help you prepare your materials to get positive recommendations beyond the department
