functions, for example a shoppingmall. stadium and it’s needs.

OPPORTUNITIES

City Fabric

+ Potential use of thermal mass of green facade incorporated in the design.
+ 24/7 use of space attracts people for different functions of city and leisure activities.
+ Design incorporates landscape, tectonic form, responsiveness to context.
+ Disolves boundries by the use of texture through material that corresponds to orientation of the building
within the site.

- Transition of material from one elevation to another creates problem in the connection and structural continuity
and integrity.
- Mass of the building requires carefull consideration in introducing natural light to the internal spaces as well as,
providing ventilation, heating and cooling where recycling - produce-reuse energy can take place.
- Mass/earth also puts demands on structural system carring a large weight of the building’s facade and roof.

Cell Concept

+ 24/7 use of different functions.
+ Attracts public by creating additional functions that respond to current needs.
+ Design incorporates seasonal change in its program objectives.
+ The design changes in function and in size.
+ Potential for panels reuse in stadium specific functions.

- Prefabricated units may have to be assembled on site due to their size and transportation difficulties.
- Question of how large can the unit be.
- Are there different sizes? and if so, how is that reflected in the grid?
- River proximity opens up option of boat transportation.
- Too many variables for change, potential problem for when is the change happening and what is changing.
- Grid as structural expression, units as facade pattern.

Spiral Concept

+ Multifunctional Space that offers 24/7 - Time needed to circulate the ramp
internal activities. (proposal: connect the external ramp with
+ Routing through all the uses/spaces. the internal uses)
Spiral starts and finishes at the ground level. - Danger of becoming a white elephant
+ Transparent cladding: connection with (proposal:transparent materialization)
the external environment -reflection of the
functioning.
+ Experience of the view when walking on
the ramp.
