Jackie Kennedy Onassis was born in 1929 to a wealthy Catholic family in New York. She was educated at Vassar College and was named debutante of the year. In 1953 she married John F. Kennedy and they had two children. She served as First Lady from 1960 to 1963 until her husband's assassination. She displayed grace and courage in the aftermath, raising her children alone. She later married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis and lived privately until her death in 1994.
