Betty Friedan
1. Betty Friedan (1921-2006)
She was an important American writer,
feminist and activist in the twentieth century.
In 1963, she published the book “The feminine
mystique” which prompted the second wave of
feminism movement in her country.
She was co-founder of the National
Organization of Woman in the United States
and she also helped the creation of NARAL
(National Association for the Repeat of
Abortion Laws).
Betty Friedan was one of the largest and most
successful twentieth-century feminists.
She is a huge example to our group because
she never gave importance to what the others
thought or said about her because she knew
Ana Rita
that her fight would provide a better future for
Joana Guido
women. Thanks to her, finally, we can say
Sara Oliveira
“Equal in difference”.
