receive a towel, fans were asked to donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Club. All the proceeds were donated to the Al Lenzmeier West Side Branch of the Boys & Girls Club
to be used to support health and wellness activities.

Representatives from Coca-Cola and the Minnesota Wild joined 100 kids at the Al Lenzmeier West branch of the Boys & Girls Club for a polar-bear themed
Holiday Party and formal presentation of a brand new floor hockey set. Coca-Cola and the Wild also presented
a check for $2,925.30 on behalf of Minnesota Wild Fans as a result of a rally-towel fundraiser held on December 14th.
“We’re really happy Coca-Cola and the Wild are here volunteering today. We’re so grateful for the donation and
the floor hockey set,” said John Hardeman, Branch Manager of the Al Lenzmeier West Side Boys & Girls Club.

“It’s a great honor for us to work with other organizations, such as the Minnesota Wild, to make a difference for
Kids at the St. Paul West Side Boys & Girls Club,” said Dan Kueppers, Sales Director at Coca-Cola
Refreshments. “As a Company that is committed to health and well-being, this donation, and
the contribution of the floor hockey set from the Wild, will ensure these children have many
opportunities to run and play.”

                                                     Minnesota Visiting Nurse
                                                         Agency (MVNA)
                                                Mission Statement:
MVNA supports the dignity and well-being of children, families
and older adults by providing quality visiting nurse services and public health care services to individuals where they
live and work.

MVNA Overview:
Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency provides community-based public health nursing services to individuals of all ages
and in every stage of life.

In 1902 the MVNA was formed by three compassionate women of the Associated Charities of Minneapolis with early
support from The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis. Recognizing a need for greater access to health care by the city’s
disadvantaged, the women collected donations and hired a visiting nurse “to serve needy sick persons, who otherwise
would be unable to receive proper attention.”

Today, MVNA nurses continue to address the health needs of pregnant and parenting women, children, families and
adults by providing health care and related services to more than 15,000 people a year, many of whom are living
below the poverty line. In addition, MVNA focuses on providing quality care through the end of life with hospice care
through Hospice of the Twin Cities (HOTC, subsidiary organization). MVNA and HOTC nurses and health care teams
enhance the quality of the lives of our clients and families by providing respectful care based on maintaining dignity.

In 2010 alone, MVNA provided over 55,000 home visits which included visits to:
•2,300 children 5 years old and younger; 681 pregnant women; and 798 teen families
•15,000 adults with chronic illnesses, such as heart disease and diabetes
•600 individuals in need of hospice care
•120,000 individuals receiving immunizations and health screenings at
Public and worksite clinics

  • 1. Issue 1 Volume 5 January 2012 Bringing Holiday Cheer to the Boys and Girls Club Earlier this year, Coca-Cola and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) partnered to launch “Arctic Home,” an initiative to raise awareness and funds to help protect the polar bear’s home. Consumers can click here to explore, experience and learn about the polar bear. On the website, visitors can also make a donation to help support WWF’s polar bear conservation work. On December 14th, Coca-Cola and the Wild sold rally towels during the game to promote Coca- Cola’s Arctic Home program and generated donations for the Boys & Girls Club. In order to receive a towel, fans were asked to donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Club. All the proceeds were donated to the Al Lenzmeier West Side Branch of the Boys & Girls Club to be used to support health and wellness activities. Representatives from Coca-Cola and the Minnesota Wild joined 100 kids at the Al Lenzmeier West branch of the Boys & Girls Club for a polar-bear themed Holiday Party and formal presentation of a brand new floor hockey set. Coca-Cola and the Wild also presented a check for $2,925.30 on behalf of Minnesota Wild Fans as a result of a rally-towel fundraiser held on December 14th. “We’re really happy Coca-Cola and the Wild are here volunteering today. We’re so grateful for the donation and the floor hockey set,” said John Hardeman, Branch Manager of the Al Lenzmeier West Side Boys & Girls Club. “It’s a great honor for us to work with other organizations, such as the Minnesota Wild, to make a difference for Kids at the St. Paul West Side Boys & Girls Club,” said Dan Kueppers, Sales Director at Coca-Cola Refreshments. “As a Company that is committed to health and well-being, this donation, and the contribution of the floor hockey set from the Wild, will ensure these children have many opportunities to run and play.”

  • 3. 3 January Charity of the Month: Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency (MVNA) Mission Statement: MVNA supports the dignity and well-being of children, families and older adults by providing quality visiting nurse services and public health care services to individuals where they live and work. MVNA Overview: Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency provides community-based public health nursing services to individuals of all ages and in every stage of life. In 1902 the MVNA was formed by three compassionate women of the Associated Charities of Minneapolis with early support from The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis. Recognizing a need for greater access to health care by the city’s disadvantaged, the women collected donations and hired a visiting nurse “to serve needy sick persons, who otherwise would be unable to receive proper attention.” Today, MVNA nurses continue to address the health needs of pregnant and parenting women, children, families and adults by providing health care and related services to more than 15,000 people a year, many of whom are living below the poverty line. In addition, MVNA focuses on providing quality care through the end of life with hospice care through Hospice of the Twin Cities (HOTC, subsidiary organization). MVNA and HOTC nurses and health care teams enhance the quality of the lives of our clients and families by providing respectful care based on maintaining dignity. In 2010 alone, MVNA provided over 55,000 home visits which included visits to: •2,300 children 5 years old and younger; 681 pregnant women; and 798 teen families •15,000 adults with chronic illnesses, such as heart disease and diabetes •600 individuals in need of hospice care •120,000 individuals receiving immunizations and health screenings at Public and worksite clinics For more information on the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency, click here.
