J.S. is a person’s felling of satisfaction with job
E.E. is a degree of employees’ +/- emotional
attachment with job.
Job satisfaction & employee engagement are
important in organizational setting.
Bella’s is a full service day spa & hair salon founded
by Illa Fitzgerald 12 years ago. Flag. Store & HQ is in
South. U.S. population of 250,000. Lynne Gibson was
GM of Bella’s. Bella’s was successful more than 1
decade from inception. Its sales decreased of 12%
last year.

Giving promotional opportunities.
Building good relationship
Providing reward & motivating the employees
Kris has joined as a new GM of Bella’s. She find
employees are not satisfied with job. For improving
employees’ job satisfaction following steps be taken..
Kris know how to improve employees’ job
satisfaction.

Bella’s is a beauty salon which is owned by a beauty
therapist Illa Fitzgerald and formerly managed by
Lynne Gibson.
As Lynne left Bella’s to complete her master’s degree
and illa has little knowledge about management, the
profit of the company was decreased about 12%.
Illa hired Kris Jenkins as a general manager of belle’s.
Kris Jenkins surveyed on the employees and found
that the owner-worker relationship of this company
is unfriendly and most of the employees are
dissatisfied with their job.

Employee Engagement: Employee engagement is a
workplace approach designed to ensure that
employees are committed to their organization’s
goals and values, motivated to contribute to
organizational success, and are able at the same
time to enhance their own sense of well-being.
Employee engagement depends on job satisfaction.
Job satisfaction is the main factor to employee
engagement.

Job satisfaction and employee engagement in an
organizational setting are important for the

Improve efficiency
Improve Productivity
Maintaining good organizational environment

Very few employees are satisfied who are at
managerial/top position, but most of the
employees are not satisfied with their job and the
owner of Bella’s for that employee engagement is
low. Employees are satisfied with their coworkers.
To make the employees positive and increase
employees’ job satisfaction and engagement, the
owner should change her mind and company
should provide facilities to the employees. The
employees should be well treated and their ideas
should be valued.

Suggestions for Salon manager to improve job
satisfaction and employee engagement:
Promotional opportunities for the managers should
be increased.
Supervisors should be keeping in touch with their
subordinates.
The owner should create a strong relationship with
her managers.
Manager should be independent in decision making.
Manager be informed about company’s goal properly.

Suggestion for the Hair Stylists to improve job
satisfaction and employee engagement:
Promotional opportunities should be increased.
Relationship with the supervisor should be positive.
Owner should increase the relationship level with
their hair stylists.
Opinions from the hair stylists should be given
priority.
Work progress level should be monitored.

job satisfaction and employee engagement:
Promotional opportunities should be given to
employees for their remarkable performance.
Supervisor should maintain a good relationship with
the employees.
Employees should be provided benefits from job.
Employees should be rewarded for excellent
performance.
Owner should treat the employees as person, not
machine/slave.
Employees should be encouraged to develop
themselves and increase their performance.

Kris Jenkins had completed her study on
cosmetology and business degree
She was a store manager of a national hair salon
Kris’ goal was to own a salon
Kris was hoping to make career movement that
would enable her to have direct input regarding
all top management decision of a salon
She identified the core problems of Bella’s and
she knows how to handle them
So, Kris took the perfect decision by accepting the
general manager’s position of Bella’s.

Job satisfaction & employee engagement are important in organizational setting. Bella’s is a full service day spa & hair salon founded by Illa Fitzgerald 12 years ago. Flag. Store & HQ is in South. U.S. population of 250,000. Lynne Gibson was GM of Bella’s. Bella’s was successful more than 1 decade from inception. Its sales decreased of 12% last year.

She find employees are not satisfied with job. For improving employees’ job satisfaction following steps be taken.. Kris know how to improve employees’ job satisfaction.
  • 8. OB Innovators Bella’s is a beauty salon which is owned by a beauty therapist Illa Fitzgerald and formerly managed by Lynne Gibson. As Lynne left Bella’s to complete her master’s degree and illa has little knowledge about management, the profit of the company was decreased about 12%. Illa hired Kris Jenkins as a general manager of belle’s. Kris Jenkins surveyed on the employees and found that the owner-worker relationship of this company is unfriendly and most of the employees are dissatisfied with their job.

Employee engagement depends on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction is the main factor to employee engagement.

Employees are satisfied with their coworkers. To make the employees positive and increase employees’ job satisfaction and engagement, the owner should change her mind and company should provide facilities to the employees. The employees should be well treated and their ideas should be valued.

Supervisors should be keeping in touch with their subordinates. The owner should create a strong relationship with her managers. Manager should be independent in decision making. Manager be informed about company’s goal properly.

Relationship with the supervisor should be positive. Owner should increase the relationship level with their hair stylists. Opinions from the hair stylists should be given priority. Work progress level should be monitored.

OB Innovators Suggestion for Spa Service Employees to improve job satisfaction and employee engagement: Promotional opportunities should be given to employees for their remarkable performance. Supervisor should maintain a good relationship with the employees. Employees should be provided benefits from job. Employees should be rewarded for excellent performance. Owner should treat the employees as person, not machine/slave. Employees should be encouraged to develop themselves and increase their performance.
