16. Interim Disability Assistance Programme for the Elderly
(IDAPE)
• This is a government assistance scheme for needy and disabled
elderly Singaporeans, who are not eligible for ElderShield because
of their age or pre-existing disabilities.
• Payout from IDAPE = $100 or $150 a month, for a maximum
period of 72 months.
• Criteria to meet to make a claim under IDAPE :
– Unable to perform 3 or more of the 6 ADLs
– Aged 70 and above as at 30 September 2002. If aged 40 to 69 years
as at 30 September 2002, disability must occur before 30 September
2002.
– Per capita monthly household income* is less than $1000.
* Per capita monthly household income means the total monthly household income divided by the

• This Policy shall terminate on the earliest of the following events:
i. the expiration of the grace period and outstanding premiums remain unpaid;
ii. the death of the Life Assured;
iii. if a claim has been admitted, on the expiry of the Benefit Payout Duration of the
Severe Disability Benefit or the Rehabilitation Benefit, as applicable,
iv. revocation, surrender or cancellation of the Policy; or
v. the Basic ElderShield Policy is lapsed due to non-payment of premiums or is

the basic ElderShield policy, this policy will only lapse at the next premium

- Given clients’ NRIC, we are able to check whether clients got a basic Eldershield
and which scheme they are in ($300/5or $400/6)
- Email client NRIC to cs_life@aviva-asia.com(max. 10 names per emai)
Note: If clients have opted out of the basic Eldershield, they need to re-apply before/at
the same time as MyCare application
Note: Clients have to be existing Basic eldershield Policyholders first to buy MyCare.
If previously opted out, they can apply Basic eldershield together with MyCare application.
