1. Headline: Unfocused Rose in the spotlight
We introduce the hottest new duo, Unfocused Rose to Bassline and to you! The girls, Niamh and
Shauna, are here to tell us about how it’s been making their way into the music business to begin
their newly chart topping success.
Where didthe name UnfocusedRose come from?
Niamh:Well we bothactually share the same middle name, Rose sothatwasinevitable.
Shauna:Andwe’re notperfect, we like the factthatwe can justplay for the joy of itand sometimes we get
goodmusicfrom it.Music isnever100% polished andthat’sjusthow we are, unpolished butenjoy-able.
N: We hope anyway.
How long have you beenplayingtogether?
N: Well itwassort of an accident. Since we were 13/14 we both lovedtosing, we wouldsingalone and
togetherall the time andit justgradually wentformthere.
S: We’dsitabout messingaround onguitarsand pianos singingsongs we lovedandwe justrealised that
maybe we could make it a regularthingandit all wentfromthere.
You’re playing a lot of festivalsthisyear, which are you most excitedfor?
S: No doubtaboutit, Glasto. Who wouldn’tbe excitedtoplay thatcrowd, I’mecstaticthat I’mgoingto be
attendingletalone playingit.
N: Glastonbury isgoingtobe incredible, aslongaswe don’tscrew up, butI’m excited toplay Latitude
actually. I’ve beentothe festival multipletimesandyoualwayswishthatyou’re onthe otherside of the
barrierand thisyearwe will be.
You’re album’s out on 13th April,how does it feel tobe able to say that?
N: Incredible, Ineverwould’vebelieved we couldsay that, we startedoff playinginourlivingrooms,
sometimes recordinginourbedrooms andnow we’ve beeninastate of the art studioworkingwithsome
amazingproducers helpingusgetourfirstalbumtogether.

2. What doesit feel like to play in front of thousands of people?
N: Surreal.
S: We’ve alwaysplayedgigsbutonly recentlyhave we gotthisbigfollowingandsinginginfrontof
thousands of people isthe mostincredible feelingbutyes, it’snotsunkinyet, I don’tthink iteverwill
really. Eachand every show isdifferentandamazinginit’sownway.
What inspiredyouto write your newsingle‘Today’?
N: It wasone of the lastsongs we wrote forthe albumactually, itbasically sumsupthe hard work that
wentintocreatingthisalbumoverthe past few years
S: Whateveryou’re doingrightnow, Today matters.
So what’s next for UnfocusedRose?
S: Lots of interviews andpromotional work rightnow andthenthe bestbit…Tour. We’re goingonour first
everEuropean Tournextmonth.
N: It’sgoingto be so much fun, we’ve beeninthe studioworkinghardonour musicrecently andnow we
finally gettotravel all overthe place andshow people whatwe’ve gottogive.
