3. Program Description
The Accounting program is a sequence of courses designed to
prepare students for careers in the accounting profession.
Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and
professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition,
retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a
combination of accounting theory and practical application
necessary for successful employment using both manual and
computerized accounting systems. Program graduates receive
an Accounting diploma or an Accounting Associate of Applied
Science Degree.
4. Employment
Accounting Diploma and Associate of Applied Science Degree
graduates are…everywhere you turn! You will find them in
banks, accounting firms, government offices, business
offices of hospitals and other medical facilities, as well as
many locally-owned businesses.
Based upon data from the Georgia Department of Labor,
beginning salaries for an Accounting Diploma or Degree
graduate range anywhere from $9.00 to $14.00 an hour
with excellent opportunities for advancement and growth.
5. Timeline
How often does MTC offer registration for the Accounting
program?
New students can enroll during any of the three terms during the year.
What is the procedure to register?
If you are a new student, once you have completed all of the required
documents for student services, you will meet with your advisor – Mrs.
Melody Tawzer or Mrs. Cari Colby – during New Student Registration. If
you are a returning student, you will meet with your advisor during Pre-
Registration.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The Accounting Diploma program for a full-time student can usually be
completed within 4 terms. The Accounting Associate of Applied Science
Degree program can usually be completed within 5 terms.

a. Tuition is based on $89 per credit hour
($1,335 for 15 hours or more)
b. Registration fee of $50

Part of your tuition may be covered by HOPE and Pell grants if you are eligible. Check with
financial aid concerning your financial support eligibility. Check our website for the most
