2. What is Propaganda?
The use of slogans, images, and other media to
influence the minds of others.
Can be done by small groups
Families: “You love broccoli!” –Mr. T’s Mom
Large organizations
Advertising: “I’m LOVIN’ it” –McDonald’s
And especially the government
“Keep Calm and Carry On” was a British WWII
slogan to keep riots from breaking out when
Germany was bombing London on a daily basis.
3. But we think for ourselves…
don’t we…?
People are easily influenced by others.
Buying every CoD game cuz our friends have it.
Acting and dressing older because of the music
and movies we encounter.
Buy things that other people like.
Eat places that others go to.
This works on a larger scale than we realize
Entire countries rely on propaganda (also called
brainwashing) to get people to follow
directions, vote, sign up for the army, go to war,
pay their taxes, go to church, go to school, and
do just about everything that is ”important”
4. What is this propaganda piece
actually saying?
What country?
What do they want
you to do?
Why?
5. How about THIS one?
What is the creator
trying to get you to
think?
