Asian Paints started in 1942 in Mumbai by three entrepreneurs. It was initially called the Asian Oil and Paint Company and manufactured paint in a garage. Over the years, Asian Paints grew to become the largest paint company in India and Asia's third largest paint company with a turnover of 77.06 billion rupees in 2011. It has manufacturing plants across India and joint ventures internationally. Asian Paints is recognized as one of the top companies in India and Asia.
