This document provides a checklist for students to follow when completing research reports. It includes 14 items that students should ensure they have completed, such as typing the report on A4 paper, numbering pages, including an aim, summary, and word count on the second page, putting tables and graphs in an appendix, and structuring the report with an introduction, body paragraphs, analysis, evaluation of sources, and bibliography. Students are also instructed to credit all information sources, write their own analysis, and explain how different areas of physics link together in their report.
1. Name: Form:
Research and Report Checklist.
This sheet should now be attached to anything that you hand in from now on.
You should make sure that you do the following:
√
1. Type your report on A4 paper
2. Number all the pages
3. On the second page you must have an Aim (1 sentence)
4. + Summary (200 words written when you have finished the report)
5. Word count must be 2000 – 4000 words. Write this on the second page.
6. Put tables of data in an appendix in the graph (these do not count towards
your word count) unless they contribute to your discussion
7. The report has a structure: Aim, Summary, Introduction, Chunk 1
8. Chunk 2, (Chunk 3..), Analysis (which includes a summary of the idea or
argument), Evaluation of Sources, Bibliography
9. Illustrations and graphs are used to help explain the physics
10. Credit all information sources. Published material must be given full
references. This means your report must be littered with numbers, or
names and dates in brackets if you prefer
11. Put the bibliography at the end.
12. Write an evaluation of the sources from which you got your information and
put it at the end.
13. Write about what YOU think in the Analysis part.
14. Explain how you used different areas of physics in your report - how do
they link together?
