3. March 3 - Student Handout Hiking Group Meeting 1 – March 3, 2011 Time: 12:40-1:10 p.m. Equipment Information: 1. Review the equipment list and start gathering the items you’ll take with you. 2. Make sure to pack all toiletries (shampoo, soap, makeup, deodorant, lip balm, sunscreen, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.) in a clearly labeled bag you can remove from your luggage. You will need to store this in the bear box at all times. 3. Mittens are good, but waterproof gloves are okay. 4. Pack new gaiters with tags on and in the original package so that you can return them if they are not needed. NO SHORTS, NO SANDALS on the Bus, in Camp, or on the Trail. Shorts can be worn in your tent only. Sandals can be taken to the shower building, but wear shoes/boots when walking to and from there. Take attendance – business items Send an email to [email_address] .com with any Students that are absent or not wearing hiking boots. Collect and Track Money collected from HG Check if rain gear present and appropriate Check if bandana present 2. Review Journal Rubric/Expectations When/Where you plan to pickup and return. 3. Review the Departure Notes – 4. Packing Tips – pack with bags inside of bags (separate clean/dirty). Carry what is required; extras weigh you down. Clearly label all bags. 5.
