2. United Way 2-1-1 www.2-1-1.org - 2-1-1 is an easy to remember telephone number that, where available, connects people with important community services and volunteer opportunities. The implementation of 2-1-1 is being spearheaded by United Ways and comprehensive and specialized information and referral agencies in states and local communities.
3. Angel Food Ministries www.anglefoodministries.com - Provide food for friends and neighbors who were struggling financially. Today, they are still doing the same thing. The Angel Food program now is helping provide food relief to more than 500,000 families each month.
4. Travelers Aid www.travlersaid.org - Mission: To advance and support a network of human service provider organizations committed to assisting individuals and families who are in transition, or crisis, and are disconnected from their support systems.
5. Modest Needs www.modesneeds.org We do this by empowering compassionate members of the general public to safely and securely help hard-working, low-income households to afford the kinds of short-term emergency expenses that we've all encountered before: the unexpected car repair, the unanticipated visit to the doctor, or the unusually large heating bill, for example.

8. Freecycle.org www.freecycle.org - It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free.
9. Raise The Nation www.raisethenation.org - Raise The Nation® celebrates independence through education by awarding grants and scholarships to single parent women and their children.
10. 995Hope.org www.995hope.org - Web home of the Hope for Homeowners/Foreclosure Prevention Hotline. FREE advice and support from nonprofit, HUD-certified organizations – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Callers learn how to work with their lender to bring their mortgage up to date.
14. IRS Advocate www.irs.gov/advocate - As an independent organization within the IRS they help taxpayers resolve problems with the IRS. If you are experiencing economic harm or seeking help in resolving tax problems that have not been resolved through normal channels, you may be eligible for Taxpayer Advocate Service assistance.
15. Student Aid www.ombudsman.ed.gov - The Federal Student Aid Ombudsman of the Department of Education helps resolve disputes and solve other problems with federal student loans.
