2. Most of the Jews did not want to
return to their homes they had before,
they were afraid that the nazis were
there, in fact some Jewish were
murdered by mobs in Poland.
3. The problem was difficult because
many countries refused to allow the
holocaust survivors to enter.
4. Jewish survivors wanted to go to
palestine but british were against that,
they let almost 100.000 Jews enter to
Israel before they declared
independence in may of 1948.
5. In 1945 president Truman
announced that the policy os the US
was to give preferential treatment to
Jewish, Homosexual and Gipsy but he
was unable to effectively put in action
his policy
6. Looking for new home almost 140.000
Jews went to the US, other places that the
holocaust survivors went were: France,
Canada, Great Britain and Israel.
The 2 countries receiving the largest
number were the US and Israel.
7. An investigation of 2005 said that
40% of the holocaust survivors living
in Israel were below poverty line
8. In Poland for example there were
programs that were anti- Jewish people
that killed at least 45 Jews and beat
many others
9. A lot of Jewish agencies worked to
help the displaced people, and the
American Jewish Joint Distribution
Committee gave food and clothing
while the ORT offered vocational
training.
