Cristian, Mumlim and Protestant.
Their climate is temperate in highlands
and hot in the lowlands.

The languages in Ethiopia are
Tigrinya, Arabic, Guaragigna, Oromifa, Somali and
English.
The natural resources are:
Potash, salt, gold, copper, platinum and natural gas.
Ethiopians grow coffee, cereals, pulses, oil seeds and
khat.
Some of the industry in Ethiopia are textiles, processed
foods and cement.
4. Food
It is a tradition for Ethiopians to eat with there
hands. They don’t use plates! They use injera
as a plate which is bread made with teff flour
which is unique to Ethiopia.
Injera is flat like a pancake. They tear it off
and wrap it around the food when eating it.
Ethiopians love there spices. One of there
most famous dishes is Wat which is like a stew
made with a varitie of meats and vegtables.
5. Drinks
A favourite drink of the
Ethiopians is Bunna. (coffee)
Bunna is drunk in Ethiopia in
a very unique way known as a
Bunna ceremony. First the
coffee is roasted then
grounded and placed in a
Jebena (coffee pot) with
boiling water. When its ready
its served in tiny cups.
6. Clothes
The Ethiopian tradition costume
is called netella. It is made from
woven cotton. Tribes in the
south and west of the country
where different clothes that
remind them of their own
tradition. Some tribes partially
cover their bodies with leather
but others do not wear any
clothes at all, decorating their
faces and bodies with distinctive
images.
8. The Famine
Ethiopia’s Famine lasted for one
year, 1984 till 1985. It was caused by
drought, estimated to have killed more
than one million people. Like Ireland the
economy is based on agriculture, so
when this fails well its rock-bottom. First
the cattle died, then the crops and then
the people.
9. Abebe Bikila
Abebe Bikila was born in 1932 in a town called
Jato in Ethiopia. Abebe spent his childhood as
a shepherd and a student .In 1954 he married
Jane Yewibdar and had four childern. In the
Rome Olympics he was the first African to
win an Olympic Medal and set a world
recorded of 02.16.2 . From that day on it got
better and better for Abebe Bikila.
10. Mamo Wolde
Mamo was born in the village of Dre
Dele in Ethiopia. Mamo qualified for the
Ethiopian Olympics team for the
Melbourne Olympics in 1962. In 1986
Mamo won a gold medal in the Olympic
1000 meter race. That was the start of
Mamo Wolde’s success.
