the surface.
7. Dirty water can cause:
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• A sick stomach
• Skin rashes
• Cancer (Some kinds of cancer, like leukemia, can
happen after drinking bad water for a long time)
You get cholera from dirty water.
8. Cholera
Vibrio cholerae, the bacteria that causes cholera, is usually
found in food or water that is contaminated.
Causes:
Foods and drink that is contaminated.
Vegetables grown with contaminated water.
Raw or undercooked fish and seafood caught in waters
polluted with sewage.
It is estimated that between 42 000 and 142 000 people die
of cholera each year. Unfortuneatly many more deaths
could be averted if medication is taken in time.
