The Secret to Quick and Easy Salads I'm going to pass on the secret to quick and easy salads because it seems everyone... especially during the Spring- and Summer-time... has a common goal of eating more salads. It also seems they share a common problem... that is--the time not to mention the effort it takes to MAKE one Really, you have to get out the fixings, cut them up, and put them all back up. This can run into some serious time. Take what I like on MY salads, for instance: • Lettuce • Tomato • Cucumber • Bell pepper • Celery • Onions • Scallions • Pickles • Banana Peppers • Cheese Cubes • Bacon Bits It just wasn't worth it… One day I came home from the grocery store and on a whim decided to just go ahead and cut everything up and put it in plastic containers. Something I continue to do… Can you IMAGINE how cool it was to just pull out a container, shake some on my salad, put the top back on, and on to the next. Takes me a whole minute. It does require some upfront prep time to wash, dry, cut/chop, and store the food but the ease with which I can have a salad during the week is well worth the time investment. 3 Steps to Quick and Easy Salads 1. Wash items and let dry as completely as possible 2. Cut up items to desired size 3. Choose the correct size container for instance, you may want a lot of tomatoes and only a little bit of onions Make Quick and Easy Salads of Your Own Figure out what your family likes and plan to spend a little time... though less than you'd think... doing the prep work. Then figure out what kind of containers you want to use. I know some people prefer to keep some of their ingredients, such as onions, in baggies.
