The Executive Branch is headed by the President and includes the Vice President, Cabinet, and Executive Agencies. The President has roles as Chief Executive, Chief Diplomat, Chief Legislator, Commander in Chief, Chief of Party, and Chief of State. The Vice President succeeds the President if needed and presides over the Senate. The Cabinet advises the President and runs Executive Departments. Independent agencies like the CIA and NASA also operate under the Executive Branch.
