3. • Fig GI 31-1 Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. In
addition to prominent thickening of gastric
and duodenal folds, there is dilatation of the
small bowel with excessive secretions causing
the barium to have a granular, indistinct
quality.
4. • Fig GI 31-2 Amyloidosis. Diffuse thickening of
mucosal folds involving the stomach,
duodenum, and visualized small bowel.
Infiltration of amyloid into the wall of the
distal stomach narrows the antrum.
