4. Understanding the Word Myth Understanding the word myth can help you to understand why in 2010 we still need to educate people about the true meaning of epilepsy. Epilepsy go as far back into the 400 B.C time with Greek Physician Hippocrates, he wrote the first book on epilepsy.

5. Myths People that have epilepsy are: Witchcraft people. Demons. Unable to have children. Cursed . Having “fits”. Other can get epilepsy by touching you. All of the following is so untrue……..

6. Other Myths You have a psychological condition. Everyone is born with it. You have a very low IQ. Epilepsy is very rare in 2010. You will swallow your tongue during a seizure. You can’t work or do anything when you have epilepsy. Everyone that has epilepsy looks like it and they look different. If you have epilepsy and you are school age you should be placed in special education. Also all of the above are not true…….
