A smart phone is basically a device that lets you make telephone
calls, but also adds In features that you might find on a personal
digital assistant or a computer. For example the ability to
send, receive, e-mail and edit office documents.
Smart phones do have an effect on productivity, communication in
the work place, Social engagement and education. However they
do have advantages as well as disadvantages. I would state that
smart phones are beneficial to society though most people are
using them all the time and this is having an effect on the world
around us especially in the education, social sectors and in
workplaces.

10. Research findings
The research was asking how often people use their smart phones at
work, school break, lunch, boring meeting, classes, in the bathroom, riding
the bus and waiting in a line.
The research findings show that 75% of people use their phones at school in
boring meetings and classes. It also shows that 74% of people use their
phones when riding the bus and 55% when waiting in a line. These research
results support my findings because it can be identified that all the areas
mentioned above are places where people should either be
interacting, socializing, or working. However it can be seen that most people
spend their time on their smart phones. This supports my argument because
it shows that there is a higher chance of unproductivety.

11. Conclusion
Personally I would say smart phones do have an effect on productivity,
communication in the workplace, social engagement, and in education. However
smart phones have had different effects on different users. I would say smart phones
have their pros and cons. They are making communication much efficient for many
people and the world global village keeps on expanding. It can be seen that too many
people are becoming dependant on smart phones and this has resulted into laziness
and there’s less productivity in the various areas of society. In conclusion I would say
that smart phones are a Benefit to society however they have consequences when
overused.
