2. The target audience for our film is 16-24 as this is the most
popular demographic
Our film would most likely be rated a 15 by the BBFC
(http://www.bbfc.co.uk/) it features scenes with
inappropriate language and strong violence
We are also targeting this age range as they are most likely
to be interested in the crime/thriller genre and also as our
film demonstrates examples of social realism in London
which they can relate to
3. Our film appeals to two demographics as we
have a criminal male antagonist who would
appeal to teenage males. Then we have a
young female antagonist who would appeal
to a young female audience.
Our film features the controversial issues;
violence, rape and crime. These issues would
appeal to our target audience as they may be
victims, involved themselves or witnesses.
4. Our target audience are most likely to be
teenagers and young adults who are attracted to
social realism programmes such as Skins, Misfits
etc.. So we took this into consideration whilst
making our film opening
They would also watch films that feature
elements of social realism such as Kidulthood
because they can relates to certain scenes
keeping them engaged
As our target audience are most likely to be
living in cities they will most likely listen to
urban music, so we made sure to incorporate
this into our soundtrack
5. My group and I attracted our target audience
with a gripping and engaging storyline. As our
film involves a police investigation, the audience
may take on the role of being investigators
themselves.
The genre alone attracts an audience as it is a
crime/thriller and engages people.
The main actors is crucial in attracting an
audience. As myself and my group members
feature in it we would have a fan base from our
friends and family who hopefully spread the
word of the film.
Our film title ‘The Witness’ is unusual and would
attract people as it doesn’t give too much away
and they would want to know who the witness is.
6. Social networking plays a major role in
attracting our target audience as the sites are
widely used by our target audience and
marketing our film on there would immediately
make it successful.
Our soundtrack also plays a major part in
attracting the audience as it is crucial in keeping
the audience entertained and engaged.
As we had decided the film would appeal to
people in urban areas we used the soundtrack to
reflect this by having R&B, hip-hop and dub step
music. We then had to make sure the soundtrack
was parallel and coincided with the scenes and
help add tension
