IN THIS PRESENTATION I HAVE GIVEN SOME SMALL STEPS TO DO WORK SHARING IN REVIT .THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO REVIT THEY CAN USE THIS TO UNDERSTAND WORK SHARING AND HAVE PRACTICE USING SIMPLE STEPS..
3. What is central model?
• The central model is the master “project file”
which we use in work-sharing.
• Central model stores all the data from local
users.
4. Follow these steps to experience work
sharing .
1. Start new project in Revit using architectural template.
2. Add the number of levels and name the levels as ground floor,
and first floor for better detailing.
3. To enable works haring select collaborate menu.
4. Select worksets. Then you will see the dialog box shown
below select ok to enable work sharing.
Note: once you enable work sharing if u want remove work-sharing functionality
you can remove while opening file in same dialog box you can see the option
detach from central.
5. Worksets
Worksets are a way to divide a set of elements in the Revit document into subsets
for worksharing.
5. Select ok
6. follow these steps to create central model and local files
1. Create folder in your system that where you would like to save
central model.
2. Name that folders as work sharing.
3. Now open and save your project which you enabled work
sharing in to that folder.
4. Done you have success fully created central model
Note:
After enable work sharing when we save that file for first time it will
become central model.
7. HOW TO CREATE LOCAL FILE WHAT IS LOCAL FILE ?
Local file is a copy of central model. This file has functionality that
automatically updates “synchronize” the work from local user when
local user do synchronize to central model.
To create local file just select save as option and give name as local 1
and save .
Done you have success fully create local file.
Note: the local file can be placed in any system of your network
which is connected to lan. you can make local file by copying the
central model or using pen drive u can take copy of central model and
you can place in other system which is in same network. And start
design some model but all the data after synchronized it will update in
central model automatically
8. To see how work sharing works in Revit close
your central model and open local file from
any system of same net work. And do some
model design and select synchronize to central
model and save.
Now open your central model and synchronize
so that you should see what u have done in
local file.
