Family Connection
Family Connection is a Naviance website for students and families that gives
you access to online resources, communication tools and planning tools for
your student’s success after high school.
Objective:
To review strategies that HISD has implemented within the district to
promote and implement the Family Connection section of the Naviance tool.

5. Train the Trainer Model
• Entire Parent Engagement team was trained in Naviance by Hobson’s
Consultants August 2012
• Dedicated specialist uses the TOT model with identified schools

6. Family Connection Sessions
• Dedicated Specialist: Middle School Program Specialist provides training
sessions for:
• Over 90 Middle School and High School campuses
• Parent Nights
• Parent trainings
• Engages parents through
• College and Career Fairs
• Sending messages through Naviance
• Utilizing materials from Family Engagement package
• See sample PowerPoint and agenda of actual training

7. • Grant schools are targeted for support
-Online College and Career Readiness Technical Assistance Grant
-Cycle 1 – five schools
-Cycle 2 – eleven schools
-Funds offset cost for district
-Grant includes goals for PE
