Warehouse module of OpenERP provides functionalities to manage multi-

Warehouses and structured stock locations. For each warehouse, input

location, output location and stock location can be defined. Through this

module of OpenERP, we can easily track the stock moves thus also helps in

Warehousing solution of OpenERP

A) Multi Warehouse System/Procurement Methods

1) Make to Stock: Customers are supplied product from available stock. Procure of
each product takes place the stock is too low (according to minimum stock rules).

2) Make to Order: When a customer confirms the order, procure or manufacture
the products on demand. A customer order ‘Make to Order’ will not modify stock in
the medium term because you re-stock with the exact amount that was ordered.

B) Scheduling

The master production schedule, sometimes called the MPS (Master Production
Schedule), helps you to generate forecasts for incoming and outgoing material.
It is based on forecasts of inputs and outputs by the logistics manager.

C) Stock Move Tracking

Production lots (batch numbers) are represented by a unique product or an assembly of
identical products leaving the same production area. They are usually identified by bar
codes stuck on the products. The batch can be marked with a supplier number or your
own company numbers. Tracking numbers are logistical lots to identify the container for
a set of products.

Upstream Traceability: From supplier through to customers.
Downstream Traceability: From customer back to suppliers.

D) Shipping Management

You can track the movement of goods and enter all the documents as each move is
made so that you know where your goods are at any point of time and can estimate
when they are likely to arrive at your destination.
