General NMI Convention HIGHLIGHTSGeneral NMI Convention HIGHLIGHTS
What a privilege it was for me and all 12 delegates to participate
in the recent General NMI Convention in Indianapolis. We
enjoyed meeting and hearing people from 159 countries and wit-
nessed the election of our first man as President of Global NMI, Phillip
Weatherhill from England.
Gail Zickefoose commented that gender is no longer a criteria for leader-•
ship. She felt that “the NMI Luncheon was an amazing model for praying for
global needs.”
Hugh Friberg enjoyed meeting friends from around the world, hearing re-•
ports of God’s passion for the world, and participating in “wonderful worship
services.”
Dave Fraley said it was the “best General NMI Convention I have ever•
attended!”
Sheryl Tedder shared that “the highlight for me was to see the younger delegation take ownership of their pas-•
sion for NMI, especially as we debated resolution #13. I’m encouraged. The church and it’s passion is in good
hands! Another highlight for me were the reports from all of our regions.”
It was an inspiring time for all. We would like to thank everyone of you for supporting NMI and mak-
ing it possible for us to represent Intermountain District Nazarenes.

New Logo for the Church of the NazareneNew Logo for the Church of the Nazarene
In addition to the Seal of the Church of the Nazarene, we now have a new logo - a symbol of
our identity, our priorities, and our future. It is made up of elements encompassing what it
means to be a Nazarene:
The Cross emphasizes the mission of our church to◊
make Christlike disciples in the nations.
Representing our vision, the dove and flame represent◊
the Holy Spirit working through each of us to transform
people, communities, and nations.
Reflecting our values, the open Bible communicates our◊
conviction that we are Christian, holiness, and mis-
sional.
Rev George E. Evans went to be with the
Lord on June 29, 2013, at the age of 102. Among
other churches, Rev. Evans pastored the Elko,
NV Church of the Nazarene and served as call-
ing pastor at Nampa First Church.
