Chapter 6: Perception Selective Attention At any moment we are conscious of a very limited amount of all that we are capable of experiencing. One example of this selective attention is the cocktail party effect—attending to only one voice among many. Another example is inattentional blindness, which refers to our blocking of a brief visual interruption when focusing on other sights. Perceptual Illusions Visual and auditory illusions were fascinating scientists even as psychology emerged. Explaining illusions required an understanding of how we transform sensations into meaningful perceptions, so the study of perception became one of psychology’s first concerns. Conflict between visual and other sensory information is usually resolved with the mind’s accepting the visual data, a tendency known as visual capture. Perceptual Organization From a top-down perspective, we see how we transform sensory information into meaningful perceptions when we are aided by knowledge and expectations. The early Gestalt psychologists were impressed with the seemingly innate way we organize fragmentary sensory data into whole perceptions. Our minds structure the information that comes to us in several demonstrable ways: Form Perception To recognize an object, we must first perceive it (see it as a figure) as distinct from its surroundings (the ground). We must also organize the figure into a meaningful form. Several Gestalt principles—proximity, similarity, continuity, connectedness, and closure—describe this process. Depth Perception Research on the visual cliff revealed that many species perceive the world in three dimensions at, or very soon after, birth. We transform two-dimensional retinal images into three-dimensional perceptions by using binocular cues, such as retinal disparity, and monocular cues, such as the relative sizes of objects. Motion Perception Our brain computes motion as objects move across or toward the retina. Large objects appear to move more slowly than smaller objects. A quick succession of images, as in a motion picture or on a lighted sign, can also create an illusion of movement. Perceptual Constancy Having perceived an object as a coherent figure and having located it in space, how then do we recognize it—despite the varying images that it may cast on our retinas? Size, shape, and lightness constancies describe how objects appear to have unchanging characteristics regardless of their distance, shape, or motion. These constancies explain several of the well-known visual illusions. For example, familiarity with the size-distance relationships in a carpentered world of rectangular shapes makes people more susceptible to the Müller-Lyer illusion. Perceptual Interpretation The most direct tests of the nature-nurture issue come from experiments that modify human perceptions. Sensory Deprivation and Restored Vision For many species, infancy is a critical period during which experience must activate the brain’s innate visual mechanisms. If cataract removal restores eyesight to adults who were blind from birth, they remain unable to perceive the world normally. Generally, they can distinguish figure from ground and can perceive colors, but they are unable to recognize shapes and forms. In controlled experiments, animals have been reared with severely restricted visual input. When their visual exposure is returned to normal, they, too, suffer enduring visual handicaps. Perceptual Adaptation Human vision is remarkably adaptable. Given glasses that shift the world slightly to the left or right, or even turn it upside down, people manage to adapt their movements and, with practice, to move about with ease. Perceptual Set Clear evidence that perception is influenced by our experience—our learned assumptions and beliefs—as well as by sensory input comes from the many demonstrations of perceptual set and context effects. AWS CodeDeploy is the new service announced at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas!!! AWS CodeDeploy is a fully managed, scalable deployment service that lets AWS certified developers and engineers quickly and simply automate the process of deploying and updating applications on Amazon EC2. The presentation includes an introduction to Code Deploy, benefits of using Code Deploy, understanding various components and workflows of Code Deploy, ways to deploy an application, commands to create and push application using Code Deploy, steps to deploying code on instances, troubleshooting and limitations of Code Deploy. It begins with a section which gives a brief introduction to Code Deploy. The next section is about the benefits of using Code Deploy. It explains the benefits of using Code Deploy like automated deployments, centralized control etc. Specific to the benefits section comes components and workflows of Code Deploy. It briefly describes the components of Code Deploy like content, appsec file and also includes the steps to the workflow of Code Deploying. Then deploying an application which explains not just the steps to deploy an application but also answers what to deploy, how to deploy and where to deploy at the same time. Then, comes a section about commands used to create and push application. It tells about the commands which are not just used to create an application to s3 but also push applications to s3. Then it covers the steps for deploying code on instances. It becomes really interesting as it explains the steps a user can use to deploy codes on instances by just creating an application and following the other steps. The last section of this presentation is about the limitations and troubleshooting of Code Deploy. It tells about the troubleshooting which occurs while using Code Deploy and the troubleshooting which appears but also mentions the regions where Code Deploy is currently supported too.

BRAINS, MINDS, AND CONSCIOuSNESS No area of the debate between biology and religion has been more contentious than the debate about brains and minds. Without a doubt this topic hits particularly close to home, since it concerns the essence of who we are. You cannot experience a single thought or feeling without perhaps wondering whether it is an element of your self-consciousness or a purely physical event, a firing of brain cells in response to some external stimu- lus. What do the contemporary neurosciences – neurophysiology, neuroimmunology, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, cogni- tive science – have to tell us about the nature of thought? Do they support our sense of being free beings? Do they undercut the belief in the existence of souls? Probably the hardest position to defend would be the view that what occurs in the brain has nothing to do with our thought. After all, if I have a stroke or a brain hemorrhage while writing this paragraph it will be less coherent than if my brain is functioning normally, and the text might make no sense at all. If you ingest drugs or a large amount of alcohol before reading this chapter or attending a lecture you are likely to experience it and recall it differently. Mind, the inner most box of nature has not been investigated by modern physicists .Mind has not been incorporated in Standard model. Mind can only be studied by participatory science. Having searched Basic building blocks of the universe i.e. mass part of reality, we have also investigated mind part of reality and finally two fundamental particles with mind and mass realities are hypothesized . Now we discuss how to further investigate mind so as to know their structures and functions. Atomic genetics is the branch of science where we investigate about fundamental interactions of the universe i.e. atomic transcription and translations. New words have been coined to understand hidden science of mind part of reality. Mind reality have been recognized as different faces by “I” about 5000 years back to Arjuna in Mahabharata. It is just like to understand any language through Alphabets. These are (different faces) Alphabets of mind reality. One Mind reality has one face identity and the second mind reality has second face identity and so on. The facial expression represents phenomenon of intelligence and different face represents different types of properties carrying property. The open eyes means property is activated while close eye means property is inactivated. In spite of carrying properties conscious ness they also know how to conduct not only origin of universe but also how to create two different universe i.e. next creation could be different from this creation. In all, It is automatic system of the universe. The mind realities which are of good properties have devtas face identity (first five faces on both side and those mind realities which are of bad properties have demons face identity ( last four faces on both side) . These are named as code PCPs or messenger atomic genes. The central face is CCP or Thought script where all thoughts of the universe are banked. It is bank of data of all information s of the universe It is face identity of Anti mind particles as data of all information’s of the universe are stored as anti mind particles . It is the Time mind ness (biological clock) that keeps on expressing different thoughts from this thought script (CCP). There are four more faces (black bodies) shown on extreme left and right floating in fire are CPs (translating Atomic genes). That translates the messages and realizes it and reacts accordingly. Rest pictures are creation of different individuals and nature (sun, moon and snake and other pictures made on hands and body) by different thoughts of Almighty B.B.B. The entire picture has been explained in Geeta in 11/ 10 and 11.Whatever is being created in this universe is basically not by our thoughts rather it is the thought of Almighty B.B.B (Yang B.B.B or matter B.B.B. or Male B.B.B working as Highest center of the universe. ) that is dominated over creation and destruction of this cycle of the universe.
