   Finished school in 2010,
   PLC in Counselling & Psychology,
   2nd Year Social & Community Development,
   Aiming to be Youth Worker,
   Volunteering for about 5 years.

   Voluntary work is very relevant to my field!!
   Volunteer in Celbridge Youth Café.
   Located in the Mill Community Centre.
   Opened in 2010.
   For 15-18 year olds.
   Was a junior leader in youth club.
   Heard about new project.
   Meetings and training from beginning. (2008)
   After long 2 years Youth Café opened.
   Benefits to both the volunteer and the
    organisation.

   Volunteers can bring a set of skills that may
    be useful.
   Can learn new skills,
   Build confidence,
   Meet new people,
   Improves mood – feeling of making a
    difference,
   Gives an insight to their community.
   Different skillsets from volunteers,

   Work would not be possible without the
    volunteers.
   Provide a service which might not be
    available.
   Set examples for young people – role models.
   Acquire new skills from other volunteers.
   Groups can come together for specific
    projects.
   Volunteers need to meet,
   Decide with young people what activities,
   Train Volunteers,
   Funding,
   Policy making,
   Publications,
   Events,
   Encourage volunteers to tell their friends.
   Child Protection
   Leadership Training
   Different Laws

   Each Organisation will have their own training
    requirements.
   Fundraising is difficult – especially in tough
    times.

   People are still generous, thank them!

   Recent events – Talent Shows and Bag
    Packing.
   Leaflets,
   Banners & Signs,
   Facebook & Twitter
   Interviews for Newspapers
   Speeches
   Have our objectives been met?
   Are we providing the service we intended to?
   Have we enough funds?
   Are there records of everything?

Volunteering in Celbridge Youth Café

  • 2. Finished school in 2010,  PLC in Counselling & Psychology,  2nd Year Social & Community Development,  Aiming to be Youth Worker,  Volunteering for about 5 years.  Voluntary work is very relevant to my field!!
  • 3. Volunteer in Celbridge Youth Café.  Located in the Mill Community Centre.  Opened in 2010.  For 15-18 year olds.
  • 4. Was a junior leader in youth club.  Heard about new project.  Meetings and training from beginning. (2008)  After long 2 years Youth Café opened.
  • 5. Benefits to both the volunteer and the organisation.  Volunteers can bring a set of skills that may be useful.
  • 6. Can learn new skills,  Build confidence,  Meet new people,  Improves mood – feeling of making a difference,  Gives an insight to their community.
  • 7. Different skillsets from volunteers,  Work would not be possible without the volunteers.
  • 8. Provide a service which might not be available.  Set examples for young people – role models.  Acquire new skills from other volunteers.  Groups can come together for specific projects.
  • 9. Volunteers need to meet,  Decide with young people what activities,  Train Volunteers,  Funding,  Policy making,  Publications,  Events,  Encourage volunteers to tell their friends.
  • 10. Child Protection  Leadership Training  Different Laws  Each Organisation will have their own training requirements.
  • 11. Fundraising is difficult – especially in tough times.  People are still generous, thank them!  Recent events – Talent Shows and Bag Packing.
  • 12. Leaflets,  Banners & Signs,  Facebook & Twitter  Interviews for Newspapers  Speeches
  • 13. Have our objectives been met?  Are we providing the service we intended to?  Have we enough funds?  Are there records of everything?
