The Elements of Meaningful Life
Meaningful life has the following four elements:
1. Strategic Visions: A long term sound vision in our life. A
sound vision is defined as a vision which has clarity and
correctness.
2. Strategic Time Management: The ability to prioritize our
day according to a long term sound vision and then to
accomplish these prioritizations through Azm
(determination) and Barakah (The multiplier effect).
15
The Elements of Meaningful Life
Meaningful life has the following four elements:
3. Competence: Competence is the knowledge, skills and
abilities (KSAs) that are required for our visions. For
example, our vision of scaling Mount Everest requires a
minimum set of knowledge, skills and abilities.
4. Leadership: Leadership is defined as the ability to share
our vision with others and to inspire and facilitate others in
pursuing the shared vision. The key element behind the
ability to inspire others to pursue the shared vision is a
character worthy of the vision.

A personal note of Stephen Covey
As I conclude this book, I would like to share my own personal conviction
concerning what I believe to be the source of correct principles. I
believe that correct principles are natural laws, and that God, the
Creator and Father of us all, is the source of them, and also the source
of our conscience. I believe that to the degree people live by this
inspired conscience, they will grow to fulfill their natures; to the degree
that they do not, they will not rise above the animal plane.
I believe that there are parts to human nature that cannot be reached
by either legislation or education, but require the power of God to deal
with. I believe that as human beings, we cannot perfect ourselves. To
the degree to which we align ourselves with correct principles, divine
endowments will be released within our nature in enabling us to fulfill
the measure of our creation. In the words of Teilhard De Chardin, “We
are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual
beings having a human experience.”
A personal note of Stephen Covey
I personally struggle with much of what I have shared in
this book. But the struggle is worthwhile and fulfilling. It
gives meaning to my life and enables me to love, to serve,
and to try again.
Again, T.S. Eliot expresses so beautifully my own personal
discovery and conviction: “We must not cease from
exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to
arrive where we began and to know the place for the first
time.”

• Since different people have different worthwhile
goals, things that are important for one person may
not be important to the other.
• We should weigh if the same activity has both
important and not important elements. If the
important element is more than the not important
element, call it ‘important’ or vice versa.

“ We can safely conclude that it is unwise to start
building a house without a vision and a plan ”
21
Just as it is unwise to start building your house
without a plan, it is unwise to start your day,
your week, your month, your year and your life
without a vision and a plan
21
We at Timelenders suggest that before
we start our day we should invest………
¬ At least 45 minutes to vision and plan our day
¬ At least 4 hours to vision and plan our week
¬ At least 8 hours to vision and plan our month
¬ And at least 3 days to vision and plan our year
21
“ Long range planning does not deal with future
decision, but with the future of present decision ”
What you do in these 45 minutes, 4 hours and 8
hours is the focus of our training
I don’t have 45 minutes in the beginning of
the day?
Why 45 minutes? Why not more or less?
The modules of planning that we introduce take
about this much time the actual time will depend
on the individual.
Are these 45 minutes included in 2 hours?

“It must be borne in mind that the tragedy
of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goals.
The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach.
It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled,
but it is a calamity not to dream.
It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars,
but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach.
It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars,
but it is a disgrace to have no stars to
reach.

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go
from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get
to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where –" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the
Cat.
"– so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an
explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only
walk long enough."

…I have a dream that one day on the
red hills of Georgia the sons of
former slaves and the sons of former
slave owners will be able to sit down
together at the table of
brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even
the state of Mississippi, a state
sweltering with the heat of
injustice, sweltering with the heat
of oppression, will be transformed
into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little
children will one day live in a nation
where they will not be judged by the
color of their skin but by the content of
their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day down in
Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its
governor having his lips dripping with the
words of interposition and nullification,
that one day right down in Alabama little
black boys and black girls will be able to
join hands with little white boys and
white girls as sisters and brothers…
…Let us not wallow in the valley of
despair.
I say to you today, my friends, so
even though we face the
difficulties of today and
tomorrow, I still have a dream. It
is a dream deeply rooted in the
American dream.
I have a dream that one day this
nation will rise up and live out the
true meaning of its creed: "We
hold these truths to be self-
evident; that all men are created
equal.“…

Do not grieve that Roses

Rejoice that thorns

It is better to plan for a year and
execute in a day than
to plan in a day and execute in

Long range planning does not deal
with future decision, but with the
future of present decision.
Planning is not predicting the future, it is the
best course of action at this time.
You should not be without a plan at any given
point in your life.
If you are failing to plan
you are planning to fail.
Think a 100 times before you make a decision but
once you make a decision stand by it as one man.
A good time manager may or may not be a

• It is easier to reject the khaterah/thought than to
change a habit.
• The earlier you stop the easier it is.
• A human is like a never stopping grinder. We put
<flour> in a grinder, but sometimes we put some mud

sometimes we allow others to put it.

  • 13. The Elements of Meaningful Life Meaningful life has the following four elements: 1. Strategic Visions: A long term sound vision in our life. A sound vision is defined as a vision which has clarity and correctness. 2. Strategic Time Management: The ability to prioritize our day according to a long term sound vision and then to accomplish these prioritizations through Azm (determination) and Barakah (The multiplier effect). 15
  • 14. The Elements of Meaningful Life Meaningful life has the following four elements: 3. Competence: Competence is the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) that are required for our visions. For example, our vision of scaling Mount Everest requires a minimum set of knowledge, skills and abilities. 4. Leadership: Leadership is defined as the ability to share our vision with others and to inspire and facilitate others in pursuing the shared vision. The key element behind the ability to inspire others to pursue the shared vision is a character worthy of the vision. 15

  • 36. A personal note of Stephen Covey As I conclude this book, I would like to share my own personal conviction concerning what I believe to be the source of correct principles. I believe that correct principles are natural laws, and that God, the Creator and Father of us all, is the source of them, and also the source of our conscience. I believe that to the degree people live by this inspired conscience, they will grow to fulfill their natures; to the degree that they do not, they will not rise above the animal plane. I believe that there are parts to human nature that cannot be reached by either legislation or education, but require the power of God to deal with. I believe that as human beings, we cannot perfect ourselves. To the degree to which we align ourselves with correct principles, divine endowments will be released within our nature in enabling us to fulfill the measure of our creation. In the words of Teilhard De Chardin, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
  • 37. A personal note of Stephen Covey I personally struggle with much of what I have shared in this book. But the struggle is worthwhile and fulfilling. It gives meaning to my life and enables me to love, to serve, and to try again. Again, T.S. Eliot expresses so beautifully my own personal discovery and conviction: “We must not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we began and to know the place for the first time.”
