2. NEAR REAL-TIME OFFSHORE AND SEAWATER
QUALITY MONITORING SYSTEM
Agip KCO is responsible for the first phase of development of
the giant Kashagan field which holds some 35 billion barrels of
oil beneath the Kazakhstan section of the north Caspian Sea.
3. Golder Associates was contracted to develop an air and water
quality monitoring program for extremely challenging
conditions:
• extreme heat and cold,
• shifting pack ice,
• high sediment load,
• busy maritime traffic and commercial fishing,
• unreliable shore power, and
• infrequent maintenance.
We designed and built an experimental seafloor monitoring
station that provides near-real time data management and has
performed well through 11 months of testing.
