2. Learning Intention
To be able to write an opinion based blog that includes facts and research
To be able to incorporate appropriate hyperlinks in texts.
Success Criteria
I can write a blog using gathered information.
I can add hyperlinks into text.
3. Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks add another dimension to your writing when
working on line. They provide the audience the opportunity
to view additional information surrounding the topic at
hand. They create an interactivity between author and
audience. Writing that is supported by hyperlinks, does not
assume that all readers have the same experiences.
4. The selection of hyperlinks is generally at your discretion.
Ask yourself, will it enhance my writing? Would my audience
benefit from this additional information?
5. When creating links, avoid using “click here” as it breaks the flow of your
writing. It is preferable to use descriptive words that maintain the flow of your
text and at the same time describe the link.
For example:
I study at Mount Ridley College [ Links to MRC site]
I study at Mount Ridley College [Links to studying at MRC]
I study at Mount Ridley College [Links to Mount Ridley in general]
I study at Mount Ridley College [Links to study in general]
6. A technical instructional video for internal and
external hyperlinks can be found in the “how to
do” section of the VLE.
You will need to watch this video before moving
onto today’s task.
7. Your Task
Today you will need to write your blog that you began researching
in your previous session. You will need to place a minimum of two
external hyperlinks into
your text. The references you recorded in the previous session
should work as your external hyperlinks.
Your final blog of two paragraphs, needs to be between 200 - 230
words in total. It needs to include your own personal opinion that
is supported by facts.
Your blog needs to be placed on your personal blog space. An
internal hyperlink to this page needs to be included on discussion
boards in your neighbourhood space. This needs to be uploaded by
Sunday 24th of May.
