2014 is a new year – but the SAME mission. From the time that the OHIO YAB was founded, our efforts have been dedicated towards one purpose…
OHIO YAB President Allissa County will take the lead on Outreach and Policy: Three focus areas:1. Youth voice on foster care to 212. Focusing on map of where county youth advisory boards are lacking in Ohio, and devising outreach strategies3. Making sure youth advisory boards are promoted during each of Ohio's youth conferences (and adult conferences??) this year Allissa will represent the OHIO YAB on the Ohio Fostering Connections Task Force and participate in helping to plan the Teening Up for Success conference in NE Ohio.
OHIO YAB Vice President Dominique Jefferson of Cuyahoga County will take the lead on Housing:Five opportunities:1.Planning kick-off for Youth and Alumni Taskforce to End Youth Homelessness in Cincinnati2. Exploring transitional housing options (i.e. Columbus: CPO Management, LINK-22)3. DC Trip: Planning ahead for conversations with HUD4. Requesting outputs from prior ODJFS Housing taskforce5. Compiling Best Practices if this hasn’t been done already Dominique will also participate in Cleveland meeting of advocates for "aging out" youth this coming Friday
OHIO YAB Media Spokesperson Charles Scott of Franklin County will take the lead on Education:Three focus areas:1. Best Practices for Custodial Agencies2. Supporting Ohio Reach Campus Liaison Training3. Piloting Educational Mentoring Model
OHIO YAB Parliamentarian Dorothy Dodson of Lorain County will take the lead on Youth Voice in Court.Five opportunities:1. Multiple law school presentations, in preparation for 2014 Legal Symposium2.
