torneo continental más im-
portante de América contó,
por primera vez, con los 38 equipos
participantes ya clasificados, lo que
confirió un atractivo adicional a la
siempre impactante ceremonia del
sorteo, que reúne todos los años a
gran parte de la dirigencia futbolís-
tica de América del Sur.
Con una excelente puesta en
escena, que supera cada año la del
anterior, la Confederación Suda-
mericana de Fútbol realizó el 21 de
diciembre el sorteo de su competi-
ción estrella, la Copa Bridgestone
Libertadores 2013, como es habi-
tual en los últimos años, en el Cen-
tro de Convenciones de la CON-
MEBOL. El acto fue transmitido en
vivo por televisión por la cadena Fox
Sports a todo el continente ameri-
cano.
El Dr. Nicolás Leoz, presidente
de la Confederación, encabezó la
ceremonia y dio la bienvenida al
nuevo patrocinador principal del
torneo por los próximos cinco años,
la empresa japonesa Bridgestone,
marca número uno de neumáticos
en el mundo y agradeció la con-
fianza y el apoyo, que, entre otras
cosas, representa un incremento
económico importante para los clu-
bes que participan de la Copa. Brid-
gestone asocia su nombre a la
competencia hasta 2017 inclusive.
El día 20 a primera hora de la
tarde se desarrolló una reunión de
presidentes de asociaciones nacio-
nales y miembros del Comité Ejecu-
tivo de la CONMEBOL. Por la noche
se realizó la habitual cena de gala
de despedida del año, que contó
con la presencia del señor presiden-
te de la República del Paraguay, Dr.
Federico Franco, hombre de reco-
nocida afición futbolera. Decenas
de presidentes y delegados de clu-
bes, exjugadores y una importante
