Most people make resolutions at the
beginning of the year. Sometimes, we
keep them. Sometimes, they are
forgotten by January 2.
The way our brains
work, we are most
successful creating new
habits if we identify a
cue, establish a routine
and follow-up with a
reward.
Psychology Today wrote an article about a
woman who wanted to change her late
night snacking routine. Her cue was a
hungry feeling. Instead of eating, she
changed the cue to translate into the
message that she was losing weight as she
            slept. It worked!
Try that technique with
 flossing. Put your dental floss
   beside your toothpaste as a
cue to floss when you put your
    toothpaste away! Reward
  yourself knowing your teeth
       are REALLY clean!
It’s important to think of
and visualize the eventual
positive outcome! Picture
  yourself with a healthy
mouth and a bright smile!
The process of
cue/routine/reward
can be used in almost
any area of your life!
