Storytelling has existed since the dawn of mankind. It's embedded in our psyche. Whether our ancestors told stories to teach a skill, warn of danger, pass on tradition or provide entertainment, the storytelling template hasn't changed much since the beginning of civilization.
What has changed is that over the past few hundred years, modern and standardized education has turned its back on this amazing tool. Fortunately, the tide is turning. Storytelling as a communication tool and a catalyst for creativity is seeping its way into business, science, and other fields. And leading the charge is language education.
The focus of this presentation is to provide teachers with an overview of what storytelling is and how digital storytelling can be implemented in a learning environment to teach every aspect of language.
You’ll learn about
● The core elements of a story
● Why storytelling is so effective in education, especially in language education
● How we can use technology to support effective and rewarding storytelling activities in and out of class
● Paul’s own contextual language training approach, the S.T.O.R.Y Method.
